Here at G-51, we have a strong commitment to our community and encourage our portfolio companies, co-investors, vendors and suppliers to get involved and make a difference in their community. Below are highlighted organizations we are actively supporting either by direct corporate or individual contributions:
Since 1964, Caritas of Austin has provided a safety net for Austin's community of working poor, homeless and legal refugees to meet their emergency basic needs and to inspire them to achieve economic self-sufficiency. As their first resource, and often their last recourse, Caritas of Austin helps those threatened with loss of basic needs.
Caritas is from the Latin word for love, and it is in this spirit that anyone with a legitimate need receives help. Caritas extends help in three major areas: Food Services, Refugee Services and Social Services.
Building on our commitment to the community, G-51 partners with Dell Children’s Medical Center which has been an instrumental, innovative leader in meeting the escalating health care needs of our community and all children throughout Central Texas.
One of G-51's most recent projects was raising money for the Children's Healing Garden. Tom Kite and Rudy Garza served as the Co-chairs for the Healing Garden at the Children's Medical Center in Austin.
Our dream was to create The Children’s Healing Garden, a beautifully landscaped respite area for patients and their families. A centerpiece for the Children’s Hospital, this beautiful green space is a symbol of hope and a celebration of life, offering quiet reflection areas as well as interactive and imaginative play areas for children.
The Children’s Healing Garden is an oasis of green for patients, families and caregivers alike. A safe place meeting the special needs of our patients to play outdoors, the garden offers fresh air, sunshine, fountains, green trees and plants. The park-like atmosphere gives families a chance to spend quality time together away from the sometimes intrusive machinery of modern medicine, yet still be near enough to expert care should the need for assistance arise.
SafePlace Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Survival Center exists to end violence and abuse. SafePlace helps those hurt by this violence to heal and empower themselves. SafePlace provides prevention, intervention, education, and advocacy to our community so that women, children, and men may lead safe and healthy lives. SafePlace assists all regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, ability, age, national origin or religion. SafePlace complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act and provides reasonable accommodations upon request to people with disabilities.
