AUSTIN, Texas and National Harbor, MD – June 22, 2010 – Motion Computing® announced today from the Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit that the complete line of Motion Tablet PCs now feature the new Intel® Core™ vPro™ Processors for enhanced security, performance and manageability. In collaboration with Intel, Motion has added support for Intel® Anti-Theft Technology (Intel AT) which helps deter theft, and protect valuable data in the event that a tablet is lost or stolen.
“Enterprises are realizing significant operational benefits by equipping mobile workers with devices that through real time access to information improve customer service, team collaboration, revenue and more,” said Mike Stinson, VP of Marketing, Motion Computing. “Motion is committed to ensuring that our customers can continue to reap the rewards of mobile productivity by ensuring that our tablet PCs can be secure and protected.”
The Motion C5v Mobile Clinical Assistant (MCA), and the rugged F5v and J3500 Tablet PCs are now available with the Intel® Core™ i5 vPro™ Processor or the Intel® Core™ i7 vPro Processor. In addition to significantly enhancing performance, the hardware includes Intel® Anti-Theft Technology with built-in intelligence to disable the tablet in the event that it is lost or stolen. The technology, which can be used with or without a connection to the Internet or a corporate network, helps IT teams protect laptop data by blocking the operating systems from loading and/or disabling access to encryption keys.
“Motion Computing is taking advantage of Intel Anti-Theft Technology to deliver innovative slate tablet PCs that give IT the ability to disable lost or stolen devices,” said Anand Pashupathy, General Manager, Anti-Theft Services Business Unit, Intel PC Client Group. “With this advanced capability, enterprises can deploy Motion’s highly mobile computing solutions with more confidence, knowing that Intel Anti-Theft Technology is helping protect the devices."
In addition to rendering a device inoperable in the event that it is lost or stolen, Intel AT also allows IT managers to re-activate and restore a recovered device to full functionality without damage to the hardware or data. Through a pre-provisioned passphrase or by a recovery token generated by IT, recovered tablet PC’s can quickly be put back into use. The hardware-strengthened features of Intel AT are managed via security software solutions when paired with an Intel AT-enabled PC. For more information visit The Intel AT Web page.
